چکیده

This paper introduces the framework of synchronous constrained uid systems (SCFS) to model queueing networks driven synchronously by general uid virtual departure processes, and explores structural properties of queueing networks that t this model. The synchronous timing mechanism used in this paper allows us to model sources and servers with time-varying capacity as in communication systems with cross traac or manufacturing systems with time-dependent machine failures. The SCFS framework allows a variety of traac models (modulated Pois-son//uid, (;) ows, etc.) as well as network topologies (tandems, cycles, fork-join networks, generalized Jackson networks, etc.). Given any such network with m stations, we translate its primitives (topology, connguration of buuers, initial uid levels, and the pathwise routing) into a constraint set T IR m + , the m-dimensional non-negative orthant. Associated with i-th server of the network, is a non-decreasing, right-continuous virtual departure process D i , which describes the time-varying service capacity of that server. We obtain the actual departure process D = (D 1 ; : : :; D m) through the synchronous map (D ; T) s ! D, and prove that D is a non-decreasing and concave function of (D ; T). Finally, we use these properties to study optimal buuer allocation and traac smoothing for a best-eeort multicast connection with hop-by-hop credit-based ow control.

Singular constrained linear systems

In the linear system Ax = b the points x are sometimes constrained to lie in a given subspace S of column space of A. Drazin inverse for any singular or nonsingular matrix, exist and is unique. In this paper, the singular consistent or inconsistent constrained linear systems are introduced and the effect of Drazin inverse in solving such systems is investigated. Constrained linear system arise ...

Optimal Curtailment of Non-Synchronous Renewable Generation on the Island of Tenerife Considering Steady State and Transient Stability Constraints

The increasing penetration of non-synchronous, renewable energy in modern power systems displaces synchronous generation and affects transient stability. This is just one of the factors that has led to preventive curtailment of renewable energy sources in an increasing number of electrical grids. Transient stability constrained optimal power flow (OPF) techniques provide a tool to optimize the ...

Physically Based Uid Ow Recovery from Image Sequences

This paper presents an approach to measuring uid ow from image sequences. The approach centers around a motion recovery algorithm that is based on principles from uid mechanics: The algorithm is constrained so that recovered ows observe conservation of mass as well as physically motivated boundary conditions. Results are presented from application of the algorithm to transmittance imagery of ui...

A chance-constrained multi-objective model for final assembly scheduling in ATO systems with uncertain sub-assembly availability

A chance-constraint multi-objective model under uncertainty in the availability of subassemblies is proposed for scheduling in ATO systems. The on-time delivery of customer orders as well as reducing the company's cost is crucial; therefore, a three-objective model is proposed including the minimization of1) overtime, idletime, change-over, and setup costs, 2) total dispersion of items’ deliver...
